University of Milan

Directions, Transport and Travel To and From Milan University
(Milan, Italy)

When travelling around Milan, using public transportation is more recommended than driving a car. Visitors can easily go anywhere around the city by getting on the tram, trolley, bus, or any of its three subway lines, even to the not-so-popular tourist areas. While the city roads in Milan are smooth and wide, traffic there is often heavy.

Travel by Air

Milan has two major airports managing domestic and international flights: Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP), which is 45 kilometres from the city centre; and Milan Linate Airport (LIN), which is only 7 km / 11 miles from the city centre. From the airport, visitors can go directly to the university by hiring a private car or taking the taxi, train, or bus.

Car Hire and Road Travel

Despite Milan being more industrial than other Italian parts, there are some interesting excursions away from the city. Several beautiful national parks can be found in the region as well as Bologna, city of cultural interest and the city's of Turin, Genoa and Brescia.

Milan isn't short of car hire companies and you always have the option to rent a car on-the-spot. However, the best, easiest and most secure way to arrange car hire is by booking it in advance online. There is one reliable and efficient online service providing the cheapest car hire rates from companies such as Hertz, Sixt and Budget.

Car Parking

Travelling around Milan city centre by car is very inconvenient, therefore not recommended, due to heavy and slow traffic. Visitors are advised to take public transport when going to the university and other areas around the city. However, visitors who still want to travel by car should take the A roads of the city. Signages found along the roads make going to the university easy. Visitors would have to park at the public parking areas found outside the university because parking spaces are very limited inside the campus.

Travel by Trains and Rail

Getting to the university by train is fast, easy, and convenient. From the Milan Central Railway Station, visitors can take the underground Yellow Line or Linea 3 to San Donato and get off at Missori. They can take the Red Line or Linea 1 and get off at Duomo. They can also take the Green Line or Linea 2, transfer to the Red Line at Loreto, and get off at Duomo.

Travel by Buses and Coachl

Visitors who want to take the bus to the university from Malpensa Airport can take the shuttle service to Cordona. From there, they can take the Red Line or Linea 1 to get to Duomo. From Linate Airport, they can take the bus service marked 73 to San Babila.

Travel by Taxi

Taxis in Milan are white, and they are usually parked in taxi stands. They charge a fixed tariff, but visitors should be prepared to pay extra at night and during holidays.
